“It’s your game, man!” with these words from his mentor Vinu Daniel, Udit began his first project in 2019: a rooftop pavilion in Bhubaneswar, designed for a Japanese Odissi dancer seeking a space to pause, reflect, and move. 

The pavilion is composed of five prismatic modules, resting between an existing storeroom and a stepped parapet, with all apex lines carefully aligned. A twist in the right surface of each module adds both strength and ventilation, letting southern winds flow through. Construction came with its share of hurdles misalignments, welding errors, and material improvisations but each challenge became a learning curve. The structure is topped with a bamboo pyramidal roof, finished with bamboo boards and a PCC plaster layer. What emerged is a shaded, airy transition space a place to contemplate, act, eat, dance, and simply be.
